The Perry County Sheriff’s office has found a skeleton in the closet…literally. When they identify the man’s body fifty years after his disappearance, his family turns to Deena to uncover the truth about his murder. The clock begins ticking when she discovers a mysterious writer is about to implicate the victim in his latest conspiracy theory book. She must channel her inner super-sleuth to solve the puzzle and protect her family name. With the help of her off-beat brother and others from the cozy town of Maycroft, Texas, Deena takes on a quest that leads to more questions than answers.
Sharpe Shooter is the first book in the Cozy Suburbs Mystery Series. With antique shopping, car chases, and ghosts in the night, the story will keep you guessing as you follow Deena on her quest for the truth.

My Thoughts:

This book follows the story of Deena Sharpe who recently left teaching high school kids.  After not bowing to what the principal wanted.  Looking to do something different she attempts writing for a newspaper, but instead gets pushed into freelance work until something opens up for her.  The other story going on in this book is Perry County Sheriff's Office has stumbled across an old case that had never been solved and an old skeleton.  Who killed this mysterious person in 1964?  And what did the killer have to gain by killing the victim?  Deena finds herself in the middle of this cold case, Will Deena solve the case in time or will she find herself on the road to getting caught?

We find out in this story that the skelton is that of Mathew Meade who diseappeared after over 50 years ago, and Deena has heard various stories about her 'uncle Mathew' finally the family is able to rest the what happened to Mathew?  It's bittersweet as the family wants to know why he was shot.  She gets asked by her aunt to solve the crime.

This book was very interesting as this one is written from the prospective of the victim's family looking for answers and what those answers lead to.  I thoroughly enjoyed this especially considering lately I have found myself enjoying stories that go back in time.  Such great story telling can't wait to see what is next for Deena.
