Review: Lover Unleashed by: J. R. Ward

Title: Lover Unleashed
Author: J.R. Ward
Publisher: NAL
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood #9
Format:  e-book ( 512 p.)
Source: Personal Purchase

Description:

Number-one New York Times best-selling author J.R. Ward's thrilling new novel in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself - only to face a devastating injury.

Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can - but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?

My Thoughts:

When Payne leaves her mother's sanctuary she is left without a injured spine and in her twin Vishous's hands to help heal her, which calls his love Dr. Jane to help her.  Unable to do much she hunts down Dr. Manuel to help, but it comes with a price the memory wipes which leave him all screwy.  What Payne needs requires more of Dr. Manuel then even he knows.  Will he help heal her?

Payne doesn't know much about a normal life.  She knows one thing she is feeling things towards Dr. Manuel and knows if she can't walk again her life is over.  Add to the fact Vishous is going through some deep crap and is pushing everyone away!  Will he find what he is looking for or die trying?

I love this series such fun to learn about different characters and see how they deal with things and get their happy ever after even during this fighting of lessers.  These books are so addicting I can read one a day!  So action packed yummy goodness!

Review: Lover Mine by: J.R. Ward

Title: Lover Mine
Author: J. R. Ward
Publisher: NAL
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood #8
Format: Hardcover ( 528 p.)
Source: Library

Description:

John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown to himself and to those around him. After he was taken in by the Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was- or his true identity. Indeed, the fallen Brother Darius has returned, but with a different face and a very different destiny. As a vicious personal vendetta takes John into the heart of the war, he will need to call up on both who he is now and who he once was in order to face off against evil incarnate.

Xhex, a symphath assassin, has long steeled herself against the attraction between her and John Matthew. Having already lost one lover to madness, she will not allow the male of worth to fall prey to the darkness of her twisted life. When fate intervenes, however, the two discover that love, like destiny, is inevitable between soul mates.

My Thoughts:

This book follows mute vampire John Matthews who spent time among the humans before he was discovered by the brotherhood.  From there he spent time with Tohrment before that fell apart and ended up living at the compound.  But as readers learn he's another brother reincarnated with his own destiny.  Brother Darius who died in the first book has been alluded to with John.

He also has a thing for Xhex even though she warns him over and over that she won't be with him.  But will she decide that this time it could be forever?

I loved the character of John/Darius as he gets to be near his daughter without her knowing it's him.  We also get to see him fall in love and really show how bad*** he can be!  I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Review: Lover Avenged by: J. R. Ward

Title: Lover Avenged
Author: J. R. Ward
Publisher: NAL
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood #7
Format:  Hardcover ( 527 p.)
Source: Library

Description:

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood—even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him—and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.

My Thoughts:

Rehvenge has always kept a safe distance from the brotherhood as it is safer that way which is complicated as his sister is married to a brother.  Rehvenge is keeping a secret that could make him a massive liability.

He finds himself falling for Ehlena a fellow vampire.  Will he win or will he destroy anything between them?

I love this such a great tortured soul who keeps people at a distance.  It was definitely a bumpy ride going on with Rehvenge.  But with the brotherhood is there any other way to go?  I  thoroughly enjoyed this adventure.  These books get better and better every time i pick one up.

A massive addictive roller coaster that never lets you go, leaves you wanting more and bummed to have to wait for the next book to be released!

Review: Lover Enshrined by: J. R. Ward

Title: Lover Enshrined
Author: J. R. Ward
Publisher: Signet
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood # 6
Format: Hardcover (560 p.)
Source: Library

Description:

In this "frighteningly addictive" paranormal romance saga there's a war raging between vampires and their slayers. Here are the stories of a secret band of brothers like no other—six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. And now a dutiful twin must choose between two lives...

Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is obligated to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive, and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body, but his heart for herself. She is drawn to the noble responsibility behind the emotionally scarred male. But Phury has never allowed himself to know pleasure or joy. As the war with the Lessening Society grows grim, tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, and Phury must decide between duty and love....

My Thoughts:

Phury has decided to be the one brotherhood member to keep their line going.  His chosen one Cormia wants love not just her body.  She finds it hard to break Phury to get to his core and find out what he thinks and feels which doesn't happen right away.

Phury isn't sure what he wants until he's figured another way about the deal he made.  Will others agree or will Phury find himself doing a heartless duty?

Phury definitely was a complex situation and not easily solvable.  Being with someone who knows nothing.  Not even a movie it's a complex confusing situation.  Never did you think he'd find love among it!  I enjoyed this story and was glad Cormia got what she desired!

Review: Lover Unbound by: J.R. Ward

Title: Lover Unbound
Author: J.R. Ward
Publisher: Signet
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood #5
Format: Hardcover (528 p.)
Source: Library

Description:

The ruthless and brilliant brother Vishous possesses a destructive curse and a frightening ability to see the future. As a member of the Brotherhood, he has no interest in love or emotion, only the battle with the Lessening Society. But when a mortal injury puts him in the care of a human surgeon, Dr. Jane Whitcomb compels him to reveal his inner pain and taste true pleasure for the first time-until a destiny he didn't choose takes him into a future that does not include her...

My Thoughts:

This book tells you more about Vishous who has a dark past, he can also see the future and is stuck with a horrid curse.  When he finds himself in the local hospital and Dr. Jane Whitcomb as his doctor he can't seem to get her out of his head and finds himself falling for her.  By the time it's way to late his future is altered and Jane isn't part of it.

Vishous goes extreme when it comes to Jane.  I think that is what is the best his love of her and trying to protect her and do anything he can to be with her!  This series is so addicting, it pulls you in and won't let go.  Can't wait to see what is next for the brotherhood.

Review: Lover Revealed by: J. R. Ward

Title: Lover Revealed
Author: J. R. Ward
Publisher: Onyx
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood #4
Format: Hardcover (480 p.)
Source: Library

Description:

Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world—to engage in the turf war with the lessers. He's got nothing to lose. His heart belongs to a female vampire, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. If he can't have Marissa, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers...

Fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, he's found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back. But even her love may not be enough to save him...

My Thoughts:

This book follows Butch the only human to know just about everything about the brotherhood and live to tell about it.  He wants to go further with his new family.  Doesn't just want to be the human cop but to be one of them.  He is in love with Marissa but she won't be with him as he's not a vampire.  What will Butch do to finally find his place?  Will it be enough for Marissa?

I love this series it pulls you in and you know your in for a hell of fabulous ride.  This one was no different.  Butch finds himself at a crossroads in life of how far he's willing to go to be part of the brotherhood or if he will walk away and go back to not knowing anything!  I loved it.  As any of the books in this series they pull you in and you don't let go until the last page is turned!

Review: Echoes in Death by: J. D. Robb

Title: Echoes in Death
Author: J.D. Robb
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Series: In Death #44
Format: Hardcover ( 371 p.)
Source: Personal Purchase

Description:

This chilling new suspense novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author J.D. Robb is the perfect entry point into the compelling In Death police procedural series featuring Lieutenant Eve Dallas.

As NY Lt. Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband Roarke are driving home, a young woman—dazed, naked, and bloody—suddenly stumbles out in front of their car. Roarke slams on the brakes and Eve springs into action.

Daphne Strazza is rushed to the ER, but it’s too late for her husband Dr. Anthony Strazza. A brilliant orthopedic surgeon, he now lies dead amid the wreckage of his obsessively organized town house, his three safes opened and emptied. Daphne would be a valuable witness, but in her terror and shock the only description of the perp she can offer is repeatedly calling him “the devil”...

While it emerges that Dr. Strazza was cold, controlling, and widely disliked, this is one case where the evidence doesn’t point to the spouse. So Eve and her team must get started on the legwork, interviewing everyone from dinner-party guests to professional colleagues to caterers, in a desperate race to answer some crucial questions:

What does the devil look like? And where will he show up next?

My Thoughts:

Eve Dallas and her husband are heading home after a party when they stumble on a dead girl who is covered in blood!  What happened to her and who is she?

Daphne Strazza is lucky to be alive but when she gives a description to Eve the only thing she can get out of it was how the devil took her.  Whose the devil and will he attack again?  Eve and her team investigate what happened and how many were impacted on a similar level and who killed her husband and of course why?

This case hits close to Eve who herself suffered all sorts of violence by someone who claimed to love her.  The book introduces you to numerous victims and a masked figure whose had way to much fun at the victims expense!

I really enjoyed this story as we see Eve and Roarke work together in their various strengths to peice together what happened to the couples and whose attacking them.  The killer was definitely a surprise and kept the ride as a definite rollercoaster!
