Description:
Another day. Another
funeral. Another ghost. Another average day in the life of young funeral
home director, Emma Lee Raines. After a perilous run-in with a plastic
Santa Claus, Emma Lee, co-owner of Eternal Slumber Funeral Home in
Sleepy Hollow, Kentucky, sees the ghost of town gossip Ruthie Sue Payne,
who is proving to be a real pain, more so in death than while living.
Recently deceased, Ruthie reveals to Emma Lee that her demise wasn't
caused by accidentally falling down the steps at the Sleepy Hollow Inn
as everyone believes—she was pushed...murdered. In order for the ghost
to cross over—and for Emma Lee to be rid of Ruthie for good—she must
find a desperate killer...or risk being haunted forever.
My Thoughts:
This book follows Emma Lee Raines a funeral director who is inflicted with funeral trauma or what we would call talking to the dead and seeing them. When she is visited by Ruthie Sue Payne her step-grandfather's first wife who is adamant she has been murdered it is up to Emma to find out what really happened all this while trying to act not too crazy talking to Ruthie.
Ruthie seems to have upset someone in the small town of Sleepy Hollow which could be anyone from Emma's grandmother, to the Mayor in this small town, who had the most to gain by silencing Ruthie? This new series includes mystery, adventure along with small town flair.
I loved this story, between the lively characters to the mystery brought into this story. I also loved watching the relationship between Emma and the small town Sheriff Jack Henry Ross and what happened between them years ago. Tonya Kappes is one of my favorite authors to read she adds humor into her mystery when you least expect it. Can't wait to read more by her. Next in this series is:
