In the latest mystery from the bestselling authors of Looking for Mr. Good Witch, the retired witches of Wilmington, North Carolina, are ready to kick up their heels...

With their coven’s spell book still missing, Molly and Elsie—along with their ghostly friend Olivia, her daughter Dorothy, and her boyfriend Brian—are all on edge, especially now that Dorothy’s infamously wicked father is back in the picture. So when they receive an invitation to an exclusive Witches Ball, the ladies jump at the chance to dress up and have some fun.
The castle locale is spectacular and the party is hopping, but the festivities come to a swift end when a member of the Grand Council of Witches is murdered. With the whole place on lock down, the coven is determined to find the cunning killer, even with an angry council and a real Spanish Inquisitor breathing down their necks...

My Thoughts:

This book was bittersweet with the death of Joyce and then Jim Lavene.  What they offered up was incredible and so worthy of their other books.  In this book it's Brian's birthday and his family is putting on an elaborate birthday party to witch the coven gets invited.  Dorothy and Olivia are also interrupted from everything when Drago, Dorothy's father shows up wanting to get to know her better.  Of course the coven doesn't know what to make of Drago who Olivia has stated is pure evil and not to be trusted.

At the ball a Council member is murdered and the castle gets put on lockdown spell wise so the witch-hunter can find the murderer.  Unfortunately for Molly she listened to the dying words of the council member and the other members want those words to find out what was said.  After convincing Antonio the wit-hunter that the old methods won't work anymore they work together to figure out who killed the council member and why?  Will Antonio and Molly figure out in time?  Or will they let a witch loose to kill again?

This book was incredible as is the whole series.  I loved seeing the coven form and work together, and how they were stronger with certain things happening in Elsie and Molly's life.  Between Elsie's boyfriend Larry the werewolf and Molly's amulet they old timers really have something to show the young witches.  I like how they stood up to the council when they could and even changed the opinions of a witch-hunter.  I'm also seeing how this series isn't anything without an appearance by the Bone Man with a cryptic message.  I wonder if we will see it again?

I was sad at the end knowing this is the last book Jim and Joyce wrote and will wonder if the kids will continue the series and the future of any of their books?  This series is by far my favorite and I am happy knowing I can always re-read them when I want to go back to Smuggler's Arcane!
